CINEMATEXAS NEEDS YOU! for its all volunteer army.

You’re either with us—or you’re against us!

As a non-profit arts organization, Cinematexas International Short Film Festival relies on the hard work and dedication of volunteers to survive. Volunteering is an exciting chance to march to the beat of a different drum and put together an internationally renowned film festival, while submersing yourself in a community full of artists, programmers, rockers, activists, and the world's bravest film festival!

During the festival and the month leading up to it, plenty of opportunities exist to get involved and play a key role in the success of the festival. All types of skills are appreciated and utilized.

Please expect to attend one orientation session or contact the Volunteer Director Kristen Grant. Some positions may require previous experience or an additional training session. Following is some more information as to how you join our volunteer army today!

How to Volunteer

The festival takes place September 14-18, 2005. Plenty of opportunities
exist to volunteer before and during the festival. Please plan to attend one of two orientation sessions, and please contact Kristen Grant with any questions.

Positions Available Before (and During) the Festival

Administration

Surround yourself with an exciting group of cinema and music lovers while helping to organize the festival; includes preparing theatre kits, goodie bags, badges, and mailings.

Table Staffers

Sell festival merchandise, distribute literature to publicize the festival, recruit more volunteers, and have fun!

Street Team

Take festival posters to businesses, schools, around campus, theatres, etc. Get together a team and post flyers everywhere they would be seen.

Positions Available During the Festival

Box Office Manager

Handle and keep records of all sales transactions at the venue, balance out cash drawer, keep track of inventory, request more supplies from HQ if needed.

Tech Gods and Goddesses

Work with the Technical Coordinator to help organize and set-up festival screenings and performance venues. Help test the equipment to ensure working order, troubleshoot when problems arise.

Projectionists

Help project the screenings during the festival. Experience projecting 16mm, 35mm and Beta is required.

Special Guest Host(ess)

House an out-of-town special guest in your extra room or on your couch. Be the Q&A facilitator and make them feel at home in Austin.

Bartenders

We need TABC Certified bartenders to help make our parties all the more enjoyable.

Usher/General Volunteer

Work for the theatre manager, take tickets, count audience members for record keeping, conduct crowd control, and help keep everything running smoothly.

Hospitality Volunteer

Be intimately familiar with protocol concerning guests. Help greet guests when they first arrive at the Hideout. Assist the Hospitality Coordinator with parties and receptions. Make people happy they have arrived in Austin for Cinematexas 10!

The training sessions will be held on campus.  If you are unable to attend please contact Kristen Grant to arrange a training time.

Volunteer Benefits

Besides being immersed in a community of local and international
filmmakers, artists, curators and more, Cinematexas offers the
following benefits to the 2005 volunteers: every volunteer will receive a free official CT10 festival t-shirt, and for every shift worked (4 hours), you will receive a single screening ticket.
This ticket will give you free access to one film screening during the
festival, as well as all of the Cinematexas parties.
For those housing special guests, you will receive a single screening ticket for each night the guest stays with you. You will also receive a single screening ticket for your guest’s screening.

Single screening tickets will be handed out at the end of each shift by the Box Office Manager. For those with guests staying with them, your single screeing tickets
will be available at the Cinematexas Headquarters (The Hideout, 617
Congress). By volunteering for Cinematexas, you will also receive the sincere
gratitude of the festival staff and guests!
