CINEMAKIDS 2004
Cinemakids
is a special program of the Cinematexas International Short Film
Festival created in 2000 to honor and inspire young filmmakers.
Bringing together younger and older filmmakers at the festival for
mutual inspiration and education, Cinemakids is devoted to honoring
young media producers and their unique perspectives and interests.
Cinemakids is a two-part initiative. The first segment involves
a non-competition screening program of short films, videos, and
computer animations created by youth ages 18 and younger from around
the world. By featuring work made by young people, Cinematexas acknowledges
that contemporary media culture has expanded beyond the realm of
adults through the phenomenal increase in young cultural producers.
The deadline for submissions for consideration in the Cinemakids
screening program is 1 JUNE 2004. For access to the Cinemakids entry
form, click here. Final selections for the program will be made
by early August. Cinemakids screenings will take place on 11-12
September 2004 in Austin, Texas.
The second segment of Cinemakids involves a weekend's-worth of free
workshops for youth ages 7-12 who are inexperienced in film and
video production. Through such workshops, Cinemakids hopes to motivate
more young people to take control of their creativity and become
active participants in the larger media arts community. Enrollment
in the workshops is on a first-come-first-served basis. Cinemakids
workshops will take place on 11-12 September 2004 in Austin, Texas.
